FARMYARD FRIENDS

Farmyard Friends is a family-owned company since 1999, specialising in animal nurseries at the royal agricultural shows. The aim of our company is to educated people on all aspects of farm animals, including different breeds, their role on the farm, the product we get from them and how they are used. We strive to give the people of the city an experience they do not get often by bringing them a little bit of country.

The owners James and Sue, both grew up on farms. James’ family home was located in Texas QLD on a property called Arcot where they were 6th generation graziers with a sheep and cattle station. Sue grew up on a small farm just outside Beaudesert QLD, where they ran a few hundred head of cattle. Like most farms they also had a number of different animals like pigs, working dogs, horses and chickens. After both moving into the city, they found that a large population of city folk where extremely interested in farm life however didn’t have the opportunity to have an experience with these types of animals. With this need for knowledge realised, farmyard friends was born.

It all starts with a small group of sheep as a display at the Brisbane exhibition and has now evaluated into an operation that involves bringing more than 600 animals into the city to allow for an experience like no other. At the EKKA, we also run extras including the shearing shows, chicken holding, Pat-a-pig, Ram Displays, Dairy and Milking displays.
